§1What the Report Is
RFC 522, by A. McKenzie of BBN-NET and dated June 1973, attaches the Host traffic statistics for May 1973. It updates RFC 509 and is a data memo, not a protocol.
A short cover note says: here are the numbers for last month.
§2The Host Throughput Table
The table is titled Host Throughput Summary (Packets Output). For each site, such as UCLA, SRI or MIT, it lists each Host number with INTER-NODE packets (sent to other nodes), INTRA-NODE packets (kept within the node), and a TOTAL. A subtotal row sums the Hosts at a site and adds the average daily internode count and the number of days, 31 for every listed site.
IMP21, BELV, ABER and LBL are marked as having no traffic.
Each row is one computer, with how many messages it sent to other places and how many it kept at home.
§3What the Numbers Show
ISI HOST 1 had the most internode packets of any single Host, 12619260, with a daily average of 407073. AMEST HOST 2 followed with 8087860, and AMES HOST 0 had 7952957.
The totals at the bottom are 72055570 internode and 23587410 intranode packets. The daily average is 2324373 internode and 760884 intranode, and the average per node-day is 64566 and 21136. The ratio of packets to internode messages is given as 1.07.
A few busy computers sent most of the messages, and the report adds everything up at the bottom.
