SITE CERTIFICATION - LINCOLN LABS 360/67

We have exercised Lincoln Labs Network software as follows: NCP,
ICP, ASCII Telnet (user and server), login procedure, access to CMS, and
operator and console communication. All behave according to current
specifications.

Multiple message responses, such as listing users, were very
smooth under moderate to heavy load of the /67.

PROBLEMThe ARPANET needed to verify that new hosts were working correctly before they joined the network.
MECHANISMEngineers tested the Lincoln Laboratory 360/67 computer by running all its network software: NCP, ICP, Telnet, login, CMS access, and operator communication against specifications.
CERTIFICATION RESULTThe 360/67 passed all tests and was certified ready for the network, even under heavy load.

§1Introduction

RFC 198 reports the results of testing the Lincoln Laboratory 360/67 computer's network software. The computer was tested against the current specifications to verify it was ready to operate as a node on the ARPANET.

This is a report card for a computer's internet parts. All the tests passed.

§2Test Coverage

The test covered several critical network systems: the Network Control Protocol (NCP), the Initial Connection Protocol (ICP), Telnet as both user and server, the login procedure, access to CMS (an operating system), and operator and console communication. All systems performed according to their specifications.

Testing included both light and moderate to heavy load conditions. Multiple message responses, such as user listings, remained smooth under heavy load.

Engineers tried every button and checked that everything worked right, even when the computer was very busy.

§3Result

The Lincoln Laboratory 360/67 passed all tests and was certified as ready for network operation. RFC 198 updates RFC 193 with this information.

The computer got a gold star and was ready to join the network.
