Network Meeting
Taking advantage of the FJCC in Houston, I have scheduled a meeting of
the Network Working Group in room Astro VII of the Astroworld Hotel at
8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 16, 1970.
The purpose of this meeting is to discuss several topics related to
the practical use of the network. I have in mind:
(a) accounting mechanisms
(b) documentation distribution
(c) person-to-person message sending and message storing
(d) access to systems by foreign users
Attendees are invited to raise other topics.
I envision that this meeting will spawn smaller subsidiary meetings
during the FJCC to pursue these or related topics.
Prospective attendees should notify my secretary Benita Kirstel (213)
825-2368 so that we can be sure the room is large enough. Unexpected
attendees are nevertheless invited.

§1Meeting Announcement
RFC 75 is an administrative notice by Steve Crocker announcing a meeting of the Network Working Group. The meeting was scheduled for 8 p.m. on Monday, November 16, 1970, in room Astro VII of the Astroworld Hotel in Houston, Texas, taking advantage of the Fall Joint Computer Conference (FJCC) being held there.
An announcement of when and where a big meeting would happen.
§2Proposed Topics
The RFC listed four main topics for discussion: accounting mechanisms for resource usage, documentation distribution to sites, person-to-person message sending and message storage, and access policies for foreign users. The notice also invited attendees to propose additional topics for discussion.
To help with logistics, Crocker asked prospective attendees to notify his secretary, Benita Kirstel, to ensure the room was large enough, though unexpected attendees were also welcome.
The author suggested a few things to discuss: how to keep track of who uses what, how to share documentation, how to send messages between people, and who should be allowed to use remote computers.
§3Impact
This brief RFC served its administrative purpose and the meeting did occur. The discussions at the FJCC meetings were later documented in RFC 77 (Network Meeting Report), which recorded decisions on protocol improvements, TELNET specification, accounting schemes, and the role of the Network Information Center.
The meeting happened, people discussed the topics, and what they decided on got written down in another document.
